Conversation is an Indian ink painting by Virginie Martin Blaise, created in 2021 as part of the Forêts imaginaires series. Executed on watercolour paper, the work presents a forest scene structured around vertical tree forms emerging from a misty, undefined space.

The composition is built on contrast and rhythm. A dark, sharply defined tree in the foreground stands in dialogue with lighter, more diffuse silhouettes behind it. Through variations in ink density and transparency, the painting creates a layered depth, where forms appear to advance and recede, suggesting an exchange rather than a fixed landscape.

More evocative than narrative, Conversation explores the idea of silent communication within nature. The forest becomes a space of interaction and balance, where presence is defined as much by what is revealed as by what remains obscured.
